OK here goes:

We all know what 'trad' goth is: A sub-culture and lifestyle with the visual aesthetic of having some link to vampirism and/or medieval and fantasy periods with regal and decadent appearances. Although this has quickly changed to fetish style being the main focal dress fashion for many 'trad' goths these day's.

Cybergoth is quite the opposite, it is more a look toward the future, where UV, progressive fashions, huge shoes and boots, wild hair extensions, goggles, cybernetics and body modification is the way forward. It could be (poorly) described as goths of the future - today. As stated before by CyberAngel*, there are no 'rules' and there are by no means only two 'types' of goth - it's not and either/or thing or one or the other, but we are looking at a specific generation of it.

You can spot the Cybers' in the clubs by the (often) brightly coloured clothes equipped with flashy lights and/or UV piping, zips, panelling etc al la Cyberdog, Athena, Spank etc. Though sometimes there are those whom can look extremely creative, turning up with all manner of home-made and/or bought additions, making their club clothing more like movie costumes for a cyborg movie, with all manner of pipes, tubing, and prosthetics attached to their clothing or person. The results of this effort in customisation are quite often breathtaking - to the right audience of course!

Musically wise, you'll find the cybergoths charging/bouncing/skipping to the dancefloor at the first sign of EBM, industrial, bleep, hard house, power noise, and other forms of electronica, armed with glowsticks and uv/flashy paraphernalia.

Unfortunately, as with 'trad' goth, there are those individuals whom exist only to give the sub-culture a bad name - in short the elitist (or 1337) individuals whom spend most of their time disillusioned that they are somehow better than everyone else upon the scene it it's entirety. It is the result of these individuals that has caused so much friction between cybers' and trad goths. This is a shame considering that the sub-culture should be considered a community of like-minded individuals, but sadly there are those whom insist on spoiling things regardless. My advice? don't come onto the scene with a bad attitude, it's better that we all enjoy ourselves without the stupidity of added animosity.
